I am happy to be participating in the 5th annual Leslierahye's Very Spooky Steampunk blog hop. Graphic 45 Steampunk Spells paper was used to create this Steampunk themed Halloween card.
A section of Mechanical Marvels paper was mounted onto a card base made from Recollections cardstock for the front face of the card. I cut out the word "spells" from the same paper and popped it up with some foam tape to complete my Steampunk Spells sentiment. This outer card was set aside and an additional card base was used for the inside portion of the card.
To create a pop-up effect inside the card I made two boxes on the fold of my card. For each, drawing two parallel lines the same length onto my card and drawing a dashed line across the top.
After cutting my measured lines I folded across the dashed line, I then creased and un-creased, flipped the still folded card over and creased and un-creased again.
Opening the card, I pushed the two boxes in from the back to create two small shelves to glue my pop-up elements to. This is a very simple way to create a platform that pops toward the reader of the card. I added elements that I cut from the Mechanical Marvels paper and the sentiment from the Vintage Voyage paper from the Steampunk Spells paper pad. I taped the inside piece into the outside card with double sided tape and was careful not to stick down the boxes that I had cut out.
